The University of Connecticut is accepting applications for a full-time position of Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Marketing & Fan Engagement. This position will be responsible for developing and providing overall direction of the Division of Athletics’ strategic plans to create a robust fan experience through marketing, promotion, branding and communication while fostering innovative and collaborative efforts to engage students, staff, alumni, supporters and prospective fans of UConn Athletics. As a member of the Division’s senior leadership team, this position participates in formulation, development, implementation, and evaluation of Division of Athletics’ goals and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities include: oversee the development and implementation of a marketing strategy to communicate messages supporting the Division’s mission and attracting potential ticket buyers; develop strategic direction of new marketing and fan engagement initiatives and supervise its workflow, assignments, and implementation; conceptualize and oversee implementation of Division marketing plans and objectives to meet ticket revenue goals; integrate Marketing and Video units in order to create rich, engaging digital content and disseminate through various communication vehicles; implement and foster a culture focused on a commitment to the fan experience, specifically related to game presentation efforts, ticketing, and other promotional efforts; develop video content standards for Husky Athletics and its teams while maximizing fan engagement goals; collaborate with multi-media rights holder IMG on the development of multi-dimensional sponsorship packages that may involve elements to drive ticket sales and/or enhance the game day experience; involved in personnel decisions including staffing decisions, hiring, firing, evaluations, and training of employees; liaise with University Communications staff to identify synergies and settings for integrated activities to better engage constituents of the institution; manage Marketing budget; adhere to all policies of the university, conference and NCAA; and perform other duties as assigned.
Master’s degree in Sport Administration; five years’ work experience (within the past 10 years) as an Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing in a Division 1 intercollegiate program; collaborate regularly with senior staff from various departments; demonstrates excellent managerial and organizational abilities; ability to think strategically and creatively, balance multiple priorities, adjust to changing circumstances, organize time efficiently and remain attentive to details; and demonstrated ability to take an idea from concept to implementation of a plan, to executing the plan that will produce a positive outcome.
Five years of experience at a Division 1A FBS School – Power 5 Conference at the Assistant Athletic Director level or higher; external exposure and constituent engagement with corporate sponsors and professional sports organizations; and active leadership role in steering game day atmosphere, in order to attract and engage fans at sporting events.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
