This position will supervise the marketing team and drive a strategic paid and earned media plan to market Howard County as a destination. The Marketing Manager establishes and implements strategies and tactics utilizing data to achieve the marketing and branding goals within the organization's strategic plan. The successful candidate will be a person who can think big-picture, while also handling the day-to-day operation of an aggressive marketing operation.
Experience in interpreting results, analytics, research, and other data in driving advertising decisions.
Demonstrated experience with effective digital marketing and experience with traditional marketing.
Experience with marketing applications including Wordpress, video, and image editing software, Facebook, Instagram, and Google Analytics.
Experience in leading and inspiring a small team to success.
Experience in the hospitality industry and/or marketing industry preferred.
Duties and responsibilities
Interpret data in the form of results, analytics, and research to be used for marketing decisions.
Develop and direct the annual marketing and communications plan and editorial calendar that align with strategic plan.
Establish and manage the company’s brand and enforce brand standards universally; develop and implement a unified message to be used by the company in all communications.
Manage marketing staff and assign projects to employee strengths.
Manage marketing effort on a day-to-day basis; ensure that marketing strategies achieve goals.
Identify and prioritize methods of marketing, digital or otherwise, that maximize return on investment and tracking.
Identify and prioritize methods of obtaining more and better earned media.
Provide promotional support and guidance to sales, tourism development, and visitor services.
Manage marketing assets, including websites, social platforms, blog, visitor guide, etc.
Direct the generation of content, including text, image, and video, for use in all company efforts.
Manage tracking of marketing efforts.
Foster and maintain a positive relationship with industry partners within Howard County.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
Computer literacy in, and ability to self-teach new, computer software and hardware
Ability to act autonomously and meet deadlines
Ability to express ideas clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to write and proof using proper grammar
Ability to work on a cooperative, courteous, and effective basis
Ability to move 30lbs
