CoMotion has an outstanding opportunity for a Marketing Manager to help drive the planning and execution of a broad range of marketing and communications strategies to support CoMotion's mission and goals. The Marketing Manager reports directly to the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications at CoMotion, and also works closely with CoMotion Directors and staff who lead the UW's efforts to be a leading resource for technology innovation. This individual will help drive the development, execution and evaluation of marketing and communications programs designed to increase awareness and visibility of CoMotion in the UW community, greater Seattle region, nationally and internationally.
The primary functions of this position are
(1) to develop, create, coordinate, and implement marketing efforts for CoMotion including direct marketing collateral and digital communications including websites and, leadership presentations (PowerPoint); (2) target a diverse audience composed of University faculty, staff, and students, investors, government, and media; (3) advertise and promote news and events to the audiences via website, email, Twitter, Facebook, external community calendars and other social media; (4) write and create blogs/excerpts/newsworthy content about CoMotion milestones, news and current events; and (5) garner positive news coverage in key regional and UW publications.
The responsibilities of the position include:
Drive the content management strategy for website: create and curate content on regular basis. Report on website analytics and make recommendations for improvements.
Generate editorial calendars and strategic content plans.
Create written digital and multimedia content: create content by working with videographers and photographers on CoMotion stories, events, and news items.
Manage and drive production of marketing collateral: designs and layouts for brochures, posters, banners, promotional merchandise, presentation slide decks, and other pieces. Work with vendors to oversee production, quality and delivery.
Lead design and branding strategy: create and provide templates, photos, graphics; oversee compliance with UW branding.
Drive CoMotion social media presence: write posts for Facebook, Twitter in support of stories, news and events including photo and video.
Work creatively and independently in designing, editing, producing and posting content, layout, photography, video and graphical elements, to strengthen the brand and messaging of CoMotion.
Undertake special projects as directed.
A strategic marketing and communications strategy is essential to increasing awareness of CoMotion with its target audiences as well as for forming positive perceptions as it grows its mission and purpose.
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, development, public relations or event and program management or a related field
Four to five years of experience in marketing and communications
Demonstrated strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for presentations, correspondence, special reports, spreadsheets, databases, forms, etc.
Deep experience with WordPress for content additions/edits/updates to the website and blog.
Flexible and adaptable to change, ability to adapt to events as needed.
Strong interpersonal skills and customer service.
Demonstrated professionalism including the ability to express oneself clearly in interactions with others in all forms of communications, verbal and written, one-on-one and group, etc. Ability to communicate in a direct and professional manner that resolves differences.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships and actively contributes as a member of working teams to achieve results.
Ability to work independently, problem solve, take initiative to set priorities and handle multiple projects efficiently and effectively. Take responsibility and initiative to set and meet goals, objectives and obligations while representing the mission, visions, and values of the organization.
Demonstrated creativity, organizational ability, and strong attention to detail. Ability to make decisions in ambiguous situations, exercise good judgement based on information and analysis in a fast pace, dynamic, deadline driven environment in an organized and professional manner.
Available to work flexible hours at peak times, such as during a large marketing or campaign event.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
