The Director of Marketing and Communications will work collaboratively with key stakeholders, and the management team to create, implement and monitor assigned marketing programs, including the determination of the: marketing strategy; target audience; appropriate communication channels; marketing materials; and the goals for the marketing campaigns and relevant metrics.
The Director of Marketing and Communications will develop processes and action items to determine and implement the strategy for all assigned marketing campaigns. In addition, the incumbent develops, coordinates, administers, and maintains promotional, branding, and social media. The incumbent will partner with stakeholders on content, and provide marketing services to program staff, as well as the development of competitive analyses, new audience prospecting, global marketing, all web content and communications delivery systems to ensure the efficient and effective implementation of these activities.
One of the primary responsibilities of this role is to build and execute marketing strategies to position CoSN for continued growth by strategically enhancing its entry in current and new market segments. This is a hands-on position, the person in this role needs to balance strategic and tactical activities and have primary responsibility for their implementation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops and implements a strategic marketing and communications plan to promote CoSN products and services.
Coordinates with staff to develop media messaging both print and social.
Manages and coordinates promotional campaigns and in-kind trades with media partners
Creates marketing materials for all CoSN products and events including the Annual Conference, CTO Clinics, Membership, Webinars, Publications, Sponsorship and Certification in consultation with staff.
Oversees the development and dissemination of all marketing messages on websites and collateral materials to ensure they are coherent, consistent and effective.
Manages external communications for the grant-funded Trusted Learning Environment program.

The successful candidate must have exemplary presentation, writing, and editing skills. Strong verbal communications skills and understanding of how to properly interact with various external customers and volunteers is essential. The successful candidate will have strategic and analytical skills, an understanding of market analysis, exceptional creativity and the ability to use different influencing styles to achieve end goal. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple tasks simultaneously and independently.
BA/BS in Marketing or related degree and a minimum 5 years’ experience in a marketing position with a for-profit or nonprofit organization is required. Association management experience a plus. Must be familiar with the use of database technology to manage the electronic distribution of messaging. Must be able to manage multiple tasks in a small, yet fast-paced organization.
