Notre Dame High School, Belmont (NDB) is an independent Catholic college preparatory school for young women dedicated to the educational mission of St. Julie Billiart and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. NDB seeks a strategic communications and marketing professional. This is a full time position reporting directly to the Head of School. Position Summary The director of communications will work closely with the head of school, the director of admissions, and the director of advancement to develop and implement a broad, comprehensive, and strategic marketing and branding plan designed to promote enrollment and fundraising.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1.Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic communications and marketing plan for Notre Dame High School. 2.Oversee the production of a variety of materials meant to increase the school’s visibility and competitive positioning, and enhance the public’s perception of the school. 3.Work across all departments and on programs, to promote student activities and successes. 4.Collaborate with the Admissions, Alumnae and Advancement offices to develop strategies to recruit prospective students and engage committed alumnae and families. 5.Create and direct a comprehensive publications program (concept, design, content, editorial, and production for paper and electronic communications) that reaches and influences the school’s target audiences. 6.Manage NDB’s internal communications such as weekly emails, targeted emails, and e-newsletters to various constituents. 7.Shape and maintain the strategic and creative direction of the school’s website. 8.Develop and manage an integrated online presence on social media platforms. 9.Cultivate and maintain working relationships between NDB and the media as well as other key community organizations; create and maintain an official point of contact for public information. 10.Cultivate volunteer efforts in support of communication and marketing goals. 11.Supervise professional consultants contracted to address communication and marketing goals. 12.Develop and implement a crisis management communication plan. 13.Perform other duties as assigned by and in support of the Head of School.
Qualifications and Requirements •Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or marketing •Minimum three years progressively responsible experience in marketing and communications with independent schools or nonprofit organizations •Outstanding organizational and presentation skills •Exceptional written and oral communication skills •Ability to manage multiple and complex projects •Proficient with and experience using content management systems and various social media platforms •Proven team player with strong interpersonal and leadership skills •Experience with Blackbaud products a plus but not essential •Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, Board members, parents, students, and donors
Other Duties Physical requirements include the ability to spend hours listening and talking; working via computer, telephone and other electronic devices; driving to meetings and events; light lifting of equipment and materials, with occasional night or weekend work.
